Commercialization incentivizes maximization of profit. That includes eliminating costs whenever posible, and Sorcerors By The Sea want to cut human costs with bots.
What the employees want does not matter. They do what they're told or they get terminated.
What matters is what C-Suite wants, and they want the bots to do more and more of the grunt work. Yes, C-Suite considered art to be grunt work no different than writing ad copy, rules documentation, etc. is considered grunt work and the fact that bots can and do execute those tasks well enough for C-Suite executives is all the evidence that they need to feel validated enough to act on that belief.
Making the game into something that a bot can write all the rules documentation for is next. No human artists or technical writers, and soon thereafter no human game designers. The process of doing this, coupled with ensuring that the product is only usable via an all-digital Walled Garden application, means that the medium transition from Tabletop to Videogame is halfway complete.
The next step, the backend of that transition, will be to collapse users into a single setting and set up an online hub-instance system in the Garden. Players of Destiny or Guild Wars (the original) know what I mean; you form groups in the hub, then play in an instanced location.
Yes, the Referee will at first also be a human player; this can be automated into a bot, and will be as soon as possible, because the incentives to not do so do not exist while the incentives to do so are overwhelmingly strong. This is the Final Destination for Conventional Play.
No, it won't be a real MMORPG. It won't even be a Themepark like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV. It will be akin to those mobile trash autobattler games with all those cancerous pay-to-win microtransactions, which means that the Final Form will also be solo-friendy; you can just run scenarios with friendly bots if you don't want to play with other people.
Remember that SOBS' C-Suite still has mobile trash executives sitting on their chairs; Williams' leaving did not change a damned thing about where the business or the product is going. That plan is still in place, still proceding, and still on schedule; the end goal is to make Conventional Play into a mobile app trash game where you swipe to win, the end result of commercialization and the maximizing of convenience- the ultimate form of Normie-friendly "gaming" entertainment.
You asked for this, Conventional Play Cultists. Enjoy your shit sandwich as you mindlessly CONSOOOM.
The Bros and I will be over here, playing the real game.
