The Business: SOBS' Big Move Makes Its Transition Launch Hit

The title is misleading, as the numbers aren't as he says, but what he does reveal should have folks lining up to admit I am right.

TLDR: the bulk of sales are already within the Walled Garden.

As for that physical product, the Comments section gainsayed our host hard. Amazon sales have been brisk, local game store sales in the legacy areas for the hobby (i.e. not New York City, Los Angelas, Chicago, or other places Normie meatspace retail cares about) have been good (as I expected), and overseas sales have been just as good in multiple languages. (Hint: most people see adds on social media and buy their stuff online, Steven; that's why you fucked up.)

This is what I expected out of the start of a transitional medium shift. The Big Move is, of course, favoring the end destination over the legacy medium outlets and distribution networks but we're still going to see print product for a while yet.

But, again, the majority of Current Edition Enjoyers are already all-digital and already are locked into the Walled Garden.

Expect more and more of this over the next several years as SOBS' pushes the Old & Busted off the deck and replaces it with the New Hotness. Whatever concessions made to holdouts will expire within a year or so, pushing all of them to either conform or get punted from the user network.

And I have to remind you that most players only want Current Edition, whatever that is, and that this Next Edition wholly caters to Normies and their sensibilities- the Hobbyist is not the target audience anymore.

SOBS' Big Move is to create a Clubhouse for Normies. The game will be changed to suit Normie Revealed Preferences, and you will eat shit or see yourself out because SOBS' changes to the game, the business model, and the social model actively punishes going against Normie preferences in entertainment- you can kiss your in-person half-ass homebrewed non-games goodbye because SOBS' doesn't want you.

So I leave you with BDubs' words of wisdom.

You don't want what SOBS' offers, hobbyist. Time is almost up for you to decide your future: quit, return to the Clubhouse, or follow SOBS' Big Move. Soon enough, SOBS will make that choice for you. Choose while you still can.
