The Business: More Confirmation Of SOBS' Big Move (Bots Aplenty)

Pat shows that, yes, SOBS' is looking to yeet human Referees and Pat quotes Chris Cox' own words to do so.

Bot Referees. This is the obvious one.

Bot content generation. This is the other obvious one.

What keeps getting overlooked by Pat and others like Pat is Bot Allies, replacing the need for other players in any form. This is the obvious follow-on from Bot Referees, and it removes the last barrier that keeps Normies, Casuals, and Tourists from totally dominating the play scene because it removes the need to deal with other people at all.

Yes, this will work.

Why?

Because this caters to the Revealed Preferences of those cohorts: Convenience and Immediacy over all else. They want it, they want it now, they want it without difficulty, and they want a thrilling theme park ride experience (illusion of danger, but completely safe and thus guaranteed win that reinforces their self-images and social beliefs). They will gladly spend a lot of money, if done as a series of seemingly-trivial transactions, to ensure that they overpower everything that they can't skip and thus trivialize encounters.

They don't want a challenge. They don't want a game. They want a power fantasy. They will pay to get it. They vastly outnumber hobbyists by orders of magnitude, so SOBS goes where the money is (and thus pacifies the shareholders, whom SOBS really serves; again, this is Mammon, not Molech).

All the naysayers and gainsayers are going to eat shit when SOBS' Big Move goes down and Next Edition successfully replaces the legacy customers with the Normie Horde, let in by the Casuals, and through which Tourists execute entryism. At that point, the Tabletop Adventure Game hobby as we know it ceases to exist and becomes an occult practice.

Lots of people--OSR, Current Edition, Perennial Also-Rans, etc.--remain in denial about the commercial viability of the hobby post Big Move.

I have uttered my warnings. If you refuse to accept the evidence of your eyes then words are beyond you and I welcome your obliteration as you are unfit for purpose.

Your time to choose your fate runs low. Choose before SOBS chooses for you, because the status quo shall soon cease to exist.
