Even the Tutorial Boss sees the writing on the wall.
This is not the full story.
This is no fault of the Pundit. A lot of Conventional Play Cargo Cultists don't take the time to connect the Current Edition issue to larger failures in mainstream Western entertainment.
Yet this is the case. Disney partners with Hasbro for the toy side of their Brand Identity explotations, specifically the toys.
Reader, in case you've been away or otherwise not paid attention, the merch DOES NOT SELL.
World Class Bullshitters has consistently documented the absolute failure of Mouse Wars and M-She-U merch failures for years on end.
Hasbro has had to rely on Wizards of the Coast to make up the shortfall that failed tie-in merchandise sales have had for the bottom line. As Wizards' C-Suite coverly, and then overtly, positioned all of its brands (notably D&D) to abandoned physical media for all-digital business models (and thus to become videogames) its grunts (all poz pushing Death Cultists) Converged All The Things with predictable results- but just how bad it's been wasn't smeared in most peoples' faces until a few months ago.
The C-Suite at WOTC are going to use this pressure from Hasbro due to Disney being fuckups (and Fellow Travelers in the Death Cult) to accelerate the changeover of media and the business model for Current Edition. "See? This legacy business is a failure. We've got no reason to not modernize the brand and make it all-digtal henceforth."
It remains to be seen if legacy products will remain available for sale; don't count on this leadership being charitable, so get what there is to get while it can be gotten.
And no, there is nothing at all that the Cargo Cult can do to stop this from happening- and thus from inflicting a mortal wound to Conventional Play in tabletop.
Which is going to affect the Pundit in due course, once the collapse reaches him.
Corporatizing the hobby--making "the industry"--was a mistake.
