My Life In Fandom: The Macross Love Continues To Flow

From Bounding Into Comics:

In the current series rights holder’s latest showing of love to international fans of the iconic mecha series, BIGWEST CO. LTD is teaming with Udon Entertainment to publish the very first officially licensed Macross art book available outside of Japan. (...) Set to see a wide release on October 18th and currently up for pre-order on Amazon, in celebration of Tenjin’s upcoming appearance at the convention as a featured guest, copies from a limited preview run will be available at Udon’s booth at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

That Amazon pre-order link is here. I want this for my birthday; sure, it would be a late present, but it would awesome.

For all you artists out there, you already know the value of having art books full of the stuff you're wanting to focus upon; for mechanical designers, having artbooks for all things Macross is as important as it is for all things Gundam, and the Macross books double-up as both robot and aircraft samples to study.

If you don't have UDON's previous Robotech book for the original Macross eries, pick that one up also while you can; it will be a nice compliment to this book, and hopefully we'll see a volume that covers Macross Delta soon.

  1. Side Note:

UDON's books covering the Robotech versions of "Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross" and "Genesis Climber MOSPEADA" are also still available.

Given that it is unlikely that we'll get another official Western release of either series anytime soon, I recommend picking up those art books also since Palladium's RPG license is gone and their RPG books (much of which also had that art, or remakes thereof) are now out of print and a bitch and a half to find in print.
