This is more delusion.
Pundit, like everyone else cutting videos like this, still thinks that Wizards of the Coast has competition within Tabletop.
LOL-FUCKING-NO.
WOTC, again, compete with Fortnite. It doesn't even compete with 40K or Warhammer Fantasy, despite that arguably being the only other comparable IP. It competes with the top Brands in far larger media because that's where the threat lies, not within. Not even Pathfinder comes close.
"But (X) says-"
Bullshit. Nothing at the stores matter because the stores don't matter anymore and haven't for a long time; most orders are online and digital-only. Nothing but Beyond and Amazon matters, and both Beyond and Amazon are fine, and that's before accounting for the fact that Magic matters far more than Current Edition for WOTC.
You want to compete? You got to be as tightly inside the dominant Network Effect as you can get, and then find a competitive advantage that WOTC can't outscale you on via leveraging control of the Network. This is why using older editions, and using them as originally presented and intended, works- not knockoffs, not clones, but the Real Deal.
The only "competition" in Tabletop is for the scraps off WOTC's table, and I'm having a hard time bothering with pretending that there's any respectibility it that anymore- not as a business. As a self-funding hobby? Sure. As a way to make a living? That ship sailed; if you're not a Boomer, a legacy Brand, or the beneficiary of a Black Swan event, you're wasting time and money on a delusion. Earn your keep doing something else.
