Yet Wizards of the Coast aim to bring out a new edition of this setting, and considering other recent signals I expect that they intend to retain those elements that define it as this is an ideal stalking horse to use to push through the top-down change in the Pop Idol dogma that We Have Always Played West Marches Style by making it first a feature required to play in this etting, and then using this as an A/B Test to refine how the rollout of the normalization as an across-the-board norm change will be done.

Yes, I am that cynical. I don't give WOTC the benefit of the doubt and you shouldn't either.

What I think WOTC's C-Suite will do is not give the screeching harpies any mind; at most a "You're the heroes; do something about it" passage, and then pile on the pain that's supposed to be part-and-parcel of being on this Totally Not A Dune Ripoff setting. Why? Because they are fucking with the money and the substitute revenue dried up.

We'll see soon enough how accurate this is, but that WOTC has to push West Marches at all means that we have confirmation that the Bros drive the bus in this hobby.
