Oh look, just like the return of Warhammer Fantasy Battles we have Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's reincarnation.
G-Dubs realizing that the very audience engaged by Total War and Vermintide want the original Warhammer Fantasy and not that Totally Not Fantasy 40K crap, so they repackaged the old stuff and resold it is not exactly a win.
Yes, it's nice to see this because that's validation and validation means dopamine hits.
There was nothing stopping you from playing the old games. "Oldhammer" exists for the Battles side, and WFRP has remained out there--as often as not due to the efforts of Captain Harlock--but no, you have to play something that feeds your CONSUME PRODUCT consumerist demon so it "has to be supported".
Well here you go.
Not that you need it. There is nothing here that D&D cannot do. Guns? Right there in the DMG for AD&D1e. Dangerous sorcery? Read The Manual, and realize that you're in a Mythos where the Magic God is one of the Four Chaos Gods so yeah you're going to have problems if you're not careful. (Imagine having to make an Reaction Check to see if Birb God doesn't mess with you when you use magic Because Reasons; don't even need to add to the game to do this.) Every culture in the Old World is already in AD&D1e (but you'll need Oriental Adventures)
Oh, and a good read of Chainmail means that when it's time for mass combat you'll be able to handle it without needing Fantasy Battles; AD&D1e can, and does, do that just fine while B/X (including BECMI) or OD&D works best with Chainmail.
SO yes, it's nice to see that someone in G-Dubs' HQ sees that they shouldn't have let this go outside Normie-adjacent notice, but you never needed it then and you don't need it now.
