TBE sees how we got to Conventional Play much as I do: people who don't know wargaming got a hold of a wargame not written for them, only played what they could grok, and then commercial feedback incentivized catering to those people and that's how the Real Hobby got lobotomized into Conventional Play.

I am so glad that TBE (and Alchemic Razor) did their digging into Original D&D to tease out the full ruleset. Lots of things that too many missed are now being brought back out and put back into its place with its proper context explained. That's fixing a lot of problems with the hobby, but the full benefit will not be felt by most until long down the road from now.
