Yeah, we're keeping on this beat for another day.
Chris Perkins is gone, and so is Jeremy Crawford.
To which I'm all-
If all you did was make things worse--and that's all these two gooberfags did--then leaving is necessary. It isn't likely to be sufficient to make things not suck over at The Only Corp That Matters, but it's a start. It would be even better if they never did anything ever again; just sit down, shut up, and go away forever.
No, there is no one else there that's any better. The guy returning to the Withered Tower of Seattle is no better. Certainly no one amenable to Wizards' or Hasbro's C-Suites is any better; there is no Chris Metzen to wrangle back into the fold to unfuck things there.
Yeah, you heard me. No one. Unlike Bobby Kotick's favorite punching bag, Wizards has no OGs left to slink back to after fucking it all up.
That said, I doubt it will matter. Unlike far too many in D&DTube, I (like many on the business side) see just how severe the domination of WOTC is in Tabletop so far as commercial considerations are concerned. For all the talk of "The Fall of WOTC's D&D" going on, not one competitor is even TALKING about replacing WOTC's presence in the Normiesphere.
If you're in this to make the money, that's a level of incompetence that demands skullpiles and corpses hanging from the boughs as punishment. You must go to where that target market is to reach them, and that isn't the ever-shrinking Local Game Store scene. Again, WOTC's the only company that does this. No one else even tries; they ain't going to DriveThru, or Your Company's Store- they go to Walmart, Target, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon and if it ain't there in Normieland it does not exist.
And yet, nothing.
Not from GAMA, not from the Perennial Also-Rans, not from delusional fuckwits who think they're hard- NO. ONE. AT. ALL. Fucking OldPub has more sense than this, and they're run by Fellow Travellers- people who glad-hand Communists, rapists, and pedophiles (and have for about a century or so now). This is a level of institutional stupidity that I otherwise have to go to a government agency to find; the most corrupt street gangs have more business sense than this.
The end result is that, despite all of WOTC's fuckery, their dominance is still unquestioned and unquestionable: all it will take is one Good Enough release and all is forgiven.
This is why I find "the industry" to be unworthy of existence; they can't be bothered to secure their own existences independent from others. This is why it is right, just, and necessary for "the industry" to burn- and why I am glad that the Clubhouse has come back. "The industry" is unworthy; it needs be purged.
