And this is going to be a shocker for you Cargo Cultists, but this is catering to the Revealed Preferences of the target audience. That's right, those Normies, Casuals, and Tourists want this and reward corporations that provide it with entire oil tankers full of cash.

Those three demographics don't want to Git Gud and will happily swipe their cards to win if it means getting on with playing and winning the game. They don't care about setting integrity. They don't care about the lore. They don't want to be tied down to commitments for entertainment or other trivial concerns (and RPGs are trivial concerns to them). This is why videogames dominate Tabletop in Conventional Play, and the C-Suite at SOBS (being long familiar with these facts) are bringing that institutional knowledge to The Only Game That Matters.

Now do you see why I say that Tabletop Conventional Play is fucked?

You can't compete with this, and you never have. You won't be able to recruit prospects to play your shit games over what SOBS gives away for free, and there is no Pay To Win option on the tabletop (normally; we all know the stories or Neckbeardia wouldn't have a channel).

Not even the Uncanny Uncle Kevin and his Boomer-tastic Palladium will survive this seismic shift.

The Cargo Cult of Conventional Play is fucked because it doesn't cater to the Revealed Preferences of the not-gamers they say that they want (and never have) and refuses to return to the Real Hobby that the Bros brought back from the Memory Hole and rapidly redeveloped into a viable alternative to Tabletop Conventional Play.

This is convergence in action, and now that the forces coming from above are too self-evident to ignore without appearing delusional.

Now what is going to become too obvious to ignore is that the forces from below--the Bros--have the solution to the existential threat that SOBS' destruction of Conventional Play in Tabletop. A lot of players are going to take that out as soon as they can see it because the Bros provide the Real Hobby that delivers on the promised experiences that Conventional Play never has and never will deliver upon- and the Bros have copious recepits to prove it.
