When I wrote the year-starting post, I put in a cavet: "Barring any Black Swans".
That December one hit. Hospitalized for 10 days, then months of outpatient treatment, all due to an infection that got into the bloodstream and literally blew out my backside.
A lot of the blogging plans got canceled, and for no greater reason than what the resources and data permitted.
Point being that primary readership remains with the main blog, and to drive the others up to what I enjoy here would mean tripling my daily output; since I earn nothing from this blog or the others, cost-benefit starts tapping me on the shoulder and I shelved those plans for another time. Crass as it is to say, if it were a significant income source I'd put in the work.
And no, right now the ship for making significant revenue via blogging is in the rear view. Some of that is due to Death Cultist convergence, some of that is due to successful lawfare against same (e.g. Owen Benjamin beating Patreon in court), but the net situational shift is that as a defensive move the alternative outlets are being squeezed by payment processors and credit card companies to comply while Big Tech silences its enemies more and more openly while viable alternatives to same wither as the global Internet increasingly lurches to balkanization into national or regional entities with minimal inter-connectivity.
In short, even if you're currenly nobody you ought to think of moving beyond their reach sooner than later.
While my medical regime due to being hospitalized ended in June, my ongoing one remained and I'd been tracking things since then in case of any other effects. Given the shaky state of US medicine at this time, I am fortunate that I got in and out of hospital without complications this last time and I am unwilling to push my luck. The last thing I need is to spend another December--in whole or in part--in a hospital bed.
So yeah, plans derailed.
This means that I've had to reconsider what I can do.
More on that tomorrow.
P.S.: My birthday is exactly one week from today. Wishlists have been updated for those concerned.
