Today in "AniTube is full of poseurs and basic bitches."
What is with the desire to pronounce mecha dead? https://t.co/UWIrufyQqm

Mark Kern here asked the question a lot of we mecha fans routinely ask, and the answer is "Because hipster faggot AniTuber poseurs need it to be dead for clout."
No, I don't get it either.
This is part of the larger problem, which is getting anime fans generally to acknowledge that anime even existed that's older than the year 2000, but since this is a mecha-specific thing I'll focus here.
A lot of the complaints come down to "It's not Above The Fold", meaning that it's not where basic bitch poseurs and casuals can easily consume it so outside of Too Big A Brand To Ignore (i.e. Gundam or Macross), it's not even acknowledged to exist despite (a) that there's plenty of post-2000 non-Big Brand stuff and (b) it not being that fucking hard to access- especially if you sail the high seas.
The reality is that a lot of AniTubers are stuck on shounen shows with some moe bait on the side, and they steadfastly refuse to move on to shows/manga actually aimed at where they really are (i.e. adults). Then they complain, and folks in Japan rightly shake their heads at the stupidity of it all.
Meanwhile, we mecha fans just keep on keeping on- on both sides of the Pacific. We're not you; this is not us.
Get bent, Gigguk (et. al.). You don't know what you're talking about. Go mindlessly consume elsewhere.
