The Culture: We Have Another Fantasy Solo-Play Game

Jon Mollison got a new solo-play game from the man behind two others: The Drifter and Star Drifter.

Simple game. You can get in a full run in an hour or less. I am surprised that the designer hasn't made it into a mobile app; this is exactly the sort of solo game that would make bank on mobile, assuming that commercial success is the point- and I don't think it is.

This is the sort of thing you use to teach a child, or a Normie, basics about the hobby before getting that Player's Handbook off the shelf. There are a whole suit of concepts, practices, and norms that are not commonly considered in Normie-facing entertainment and that includes Normie-facing tabletop games. Solo-play products like this work to ease those Normies in, and so do boardgames like HeroQuest.

Most Normies will not want to go further than this. GOOD!

Those that want to go on are those that want to join the hobby for its own sake, and not for any other. Go on to initiate them.
