I'm going to follow Joshua Lisec's lead here and tell it like it is.
If you can't handle THAC0 then you can't handle RPGs.
That's fine. RPGs are not for everyone. You are not to be accomodated Just Because. You are to conform to the norms of the society, or you are to remove yourself (or be removed). You might as well have complained that you had breakfast today and cannot imagine how you'd feel if you didn't.
Don't be surprised if other long-standing practices also end up with you being asked to step beyond the gate in the future. You are not entitled to be here.
