A while back I posted about a company named MoShow Toys and their new original IP, "Progenitor Effect". Their first release is a Super Robot named and themed around Japanese warlord Takeda Shingen. I mentioned then that there was concept art for two more units, and now the second unit is entering its hype phase. Welcome Data Masamune to the lineup.
Another that shows more stuff.
And MoShow put up a sizzle reel that reveals that this property will have seven hero robots.
And yes, there is a tie-in comic- in Mandarin. You can find it here, and the (translated by Google) summary is below:
"August 12, 2098, the debate about whether there are aliens has finally come to a conclusion! A kind of intelligent life with only spiritual form has invaded the network port on earth and spread rapidly. Controlled most of it in a few hours A country, an industrial and military unit based on the Internet. A war aimed at plundering the earth's resources and destroying human civilization has begun! The super mecha, driven by the famous human generals and great men's spiritual particles in the long history, has become the final decisive factor in the fate of mankind. hope!"
This is very ambitious for a Mainland Chinese company to attempt, but if they can maintain the high quality that the Shingen toy routinely gets from reviews then it will be a hit worldwide despite the changing global economy for all concerned. There is nothing in anything other than Mandarin, and outside translations are non-existant at present, but this is very much a traditional Super Robot narrative that they're aiming for.
Keep an eye on MoShow, folks. They know nothing about us, but they are making their own stuff in the mold of that they love out of Japan. If nothing else, they're showing the rest of us that a path forward in bigger media than books and tabletop games is possible.
