No Geek Gab today, but fortunately the Pundit cut a new video about the Death Cult in tabletop gaming.
The TRPG sect of Death Cultists have been particularly bad at infiltrating Old-School Gaming because convergence requires centralization and the OSR in particular is not.
So far the play has been to choke off attention to the OSR as best they can, but because the core of it are the wholly-legal clones of the early D&D editions there is a perpetual demand for what the OSR provides because OSR publishers don't hate their customers while WOTC and its fellow travelers (e.g. Paizo) openly do so.
This means it's gaslighting time, the Pundit gets into how those who counter-signal the gaslighting get it even worse from the Death Cult. Go off the plantation and the slave wranglers let the dogs out.
What these cut-rate Cultists don't get is that the hardest part of selling the OSR is overcoming Brand Power, not the Narrative; their handlers get this, which is why those Cultists focus upon Wankers of the Cult and its brand ownership position, but even this is only a delaying tactic for as video evidence of OSR alternatives being the D&D that most gamers want proliferates that brand power erodes inevitably.
And this is what I advise to OSR players across the scene: learn video, and show your prospective customers that you--and not WOTC--give them the gaming experience that they want.
