This video is about a specific AAA dumpster fire and AAA gaming in general, but man if this is not a microcosmic expression of a far bigger trend.
While there is plenty of good stuff to be found in videogames as a whole, usually in the smaller studios and the indie passion projects, the industry as a whole has become so throughly converged that it doesn't matter if it's Mammon Mobsters or Molech-worshiping Death Cultists because the result is the same: the product is nothing more than a means to push casino-style weaponized psychological operations intended to induce addictive behavior for the purpose of hacking a user's brainmeats and suck the money--and life--from them regardless of the quality of the game.
This isn't a gaming business. This is drug pushing blended with gambling with extra steps and wearing the videogame genre as a skinsuit. Pushing this NFT scam? More of the same predatory behavior, and we have Millenials and Zoomers eagerly throwing money at the very people openly and avowedly displaying utter contempt for them as a flex- only to complain impotently before capitulating like a Cuckservative loser because they're hapless Pop Cultists worshiping these games as cult idols.
Guys like Gundam here are right to point out how shit this is. They're right to point out how you shouldn't be giving them money, but because they fail to break the hold that the idol has on these people those words go in one ear and out the other- often in the time it takes to watch a well-produced teaser.
It is as Alinksy says: the price of a successful attack is to present a viable alternative.
You are not getting Pop Cultists away from Muh Brand without having an alternative that they will accept on hand and ready to go when they deign to heed your criticism at all.
This has to be done man-to-man, one-on-one, as it is at its heart an evangelization operation. People will not heed a call to action until they feel a need to do so, and so long as their attachment to Muh Brand is greater than their disgust at the experience Muh Brand grants in return they won't bother and all the nagging in the world is just so much noise.
That's how dealing with addicts also works, which is why the predators in the C Suites of AAA gaming openly employ casino brainfucking to induce addiction psychology; they can't squeeze whales that aren't there, and turn addicts into whales when there are no addicts to groom. Do not be surprised to see similar psychological weaponization used outside of the gaming industry, aiming at creating specific Pop Cults with the goal of grooming people into whales and sucking them dry--to consume the consumers--like ravenous vampires running front cults in thrall to their own Death Cult or Hellfire Club.
We win when we offer alternatives that satisfy their needs, one of which is the answer to why they originally fled into the Brand: a life worth living, something they can point to and be proud of, that the Brand (or the Cult/Mob) cannot give them. Alternatives to the Brand's original product or service is the start; from there alternatives to all else that formerly fed the afflicted into the Brand must be presented, and virtue cultivated.
And the cornerstone of our victory stems from one thing: telling the tales where we win. That is the source of our good news, upon which all efforts to deliver those seeking a way out must rest upon and build from.
We let the enemy tell the story for too long, and here we are. Next year, do what you can to drown out that despair porn and return our tales of triumph to the fore once more.

ReplyDeleteAnd that is why 'muh conservatism' LOST. They tried to substitute money for culture. And had no answers for anyone that fell through the cracks of their neocon empire economics.
IMHO the way corporations and Big gov worked hand in hand at least since WW2 has strong economic policy parallels to other fascist economies of the 1930's. With the exception that our elites kept rigging the system so that they could loot it more and more.
