And Now, Some Good Sense On Christmas

In time for the Christmas Season, author David Stewart addresses the pagan LARPers claims about Christmas.

Folks are freaking out about folk traditions.

Dave's got the right of it, and the historical record reflects this. People attached folk practices to orthodox Christianity over time, and that includes Christmas. What the pre-Christian practices were are lost, and what the LARPers claim now is--at best--a guess based on what records they bother to read themselves (and more often what the professors, who are by no means neutral actors, told them).

Shun the whiners and enjoy the birth of Jesus for what it is, and do your best to make the ocassion a merry one for you and yours.

  1. Bradford,

If Christianity is nothing but a straight up xeroxing of all the pagan religions, where then were the hospital, orphanages and universities in the ancient world? If pagans were such alpha chads why did the warriors voluntarily convert?

If you look at the IndoEuropean gods and their myths, like Zeus, you can cogently conclude that they must be oral stories of the Nephelim and watchers, the ones who joined with human women.

In any case, the pagan LARPers are so gamma it's offensive.
