No Geek Gab today, so again here's Josh Strife Hayes with more bad MMOs.
It shouldn't be hard to deduce why this game isn't tearing up the charts.
It's in entirely wrong. This is a game meant for use on consoles, which is why the PC controls are so bad. It's also meant for whales, which is why the core gameplay loop is so shallow before you hit a brick wall while the narrative might as well not be there at all. Making a side-scrolling brawler is fine. Pretending that anyone into MMOs is going to go with this when they have Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, or Final Fantasy XIV is delusional.
It doesn't matter if it's still a live game with regular updates. It's still Pay To Win trash with terrible controls using a game genre entirely antithetical to the business model, and therefore it disrespects your time and your money. No MMO worthy of that will be so contemptuous of either, and as such I have to agree that this game gets shit on good and hard. No, I won't link to its store page on Steam; it's not worth it.
There's a wholesale paradigm shift coming, but this ain't it chief. MMO players want more, not less. Listening to the MBA twats is the reason this game is shit, as we've seen with other terrible MMOs of late, when the top MMO is driven by a veteran game design expert--an engineer in all but name--that emphasizes the quality of ludonarrative so much that it makes what is otherwise impossible possible (mainly by making the game so single-player friendly that it's not that MMO of an MMO).
Josh may think this game is okay, but I don't; this is a time waster, and not in a good way, which makes it trash. I'd rather play The World of Synnibarr than this.
