I told you that Games Workshop got the memo, and here's the proof.
Valrak's one of the regulars in 40K fandom on YouTube, so he's good for stuff like this and deliver he has. If you do 40K, check his stuff out.
I said a while back that Games Workshop realized that their brand strength is sufficient to stop relying on miniatures alone to bring in returning revenue, and that's why we got an explosion of not only toys done by Bandai but revisiting and expanding their line of tie-in novels. Expanding into animation had to be the next step, and that means that a plan had to be drawn up- a plan that inevitably had to be adjusted to account for fan animations.
Yes, that's why you saw that Astartes guy and a few others get roped into the fold recently; they're going to be incorporated into this brand expansion project. Count on it, and expect to see others roped in as they proved by their deeds that they too have the chops to produce what Games Workshop wants associated with the 40K brand.
That's what this animation announcement is about: expanding the brand to include people that do not play the core games and therefore do not engage the core hobbies. This is a sign that Games Workshop wants to move away from just being about pushing plastic crack and into being an IP factory; the other recent releases and announcements--such as the new Necromunda game "Hired Gun"--shows this.
This can be good for Games Workshop, but--and this is a key point--it vastly increases the risk of SJW convergence because it raises the profile, opens more avenues for infiltration, and grows the stores of value to consume like the locusts they are.
We'll soon see if we need to walk away from 40K too. I hope not.
