Narrative Warfare: All The Dark Lord Does Is Win

Behold the majesty of the Supreme Dark Lord!

At long last, he has a distribution channel that SJWs cannot touch for use with comics. In his mercy, he announces that others may make use of it for a price. #ComicsGate e-celebs promptly freak out at someone who's done this dance before multiple times actually doing something useful and effective, so they decide to shit all over it- to no effect, but a lot of sound and (impotent) fury.

While they do their best Wil Wheaton and John Scalzi impressions, all the Supreme Dark Lord does is win:

Let the ComicsGatekeepers gnash their teeth all they like. While they have been talking, talking, and talking some more, we have published 22 digital editions and 11 print editions in the last eight months. And based on an author who signed with us last night, it is safe to anticipate that some of the loudest voices raised against us will be publishing with us in less than a year.

"I own the word ComicsGate. It belongs to me and I will fight him in court for it. Nobody will make a line of ComicsGate comics except for me."

Yeah, so, about that... it's a pretty poor prophet who has to eat his words less than 8 hours later. Ethan isn't going to fight anyone in court over ownership of the word ComicsGate. I very much doubt that he is dumb enough to throw all his crowdfunded money away on a hopeless legal case in a foreign jurisdiction when he hasn't even bothered to spend $7k on the URL, which was registered in 2013. It sounds as if someone is going to have to explain the concepts of "dilution", "prior usage", and "jurisdiction" to him.

Vox Day is our Trump, and I stick with someone who wants to win and knows how. It's also why I heed Ivan Throne and many others of similar quality. The freakout over this revealed the character of many, and that character turned out to be lacking; I'm not the only one to notice and disapprove of this poor display of emotional immaturity. All you had to do was to read this and calm your tits:

BIC: How will you differentiate this imprint from Arkhaven and Dark Legion?

Vox: Arkhaven is for the original material that we create. Dark Legion is what other creators bring to us for publishing. ComicsGate is similar to Dark Legion, but it is specifically for creators and fans who wish to make public their support for ComicsGate. We don’t claim to define ComicsGate, we don’t claim to be the official publisher of ComicsGate, and there will certainly be ComicsGaters who will utilize other publishers and distribution channels, this is merely our way of offering our structural support for the people and philosophy of ComicsGate.

Read that again. He has not only one, but two labels for you to go with. You want to signal? ComicsGate. You don't? Dark Legion. All you had to do is say "That's great. If we need to make use of your infrastructure, we'll be in touch." and not one goddamn thing would've happened.

But no, this had to turn into three or four hour dramastreams where folks throw cash at you while you clown around- and, by the by, don't get fucking work done. This had to turn into dumb motherfuckers raiding the chat of a livestream and clowning there. This had to turn into people claiming that throwing shit like a monkey is owning someone, like a petulant child acting out because their scrub ways allowed them to not play the game as the rules actually are.

There's only one way to regard you chucklefucks now that you've shown that you're not ready for prime time:

And how do I know that Vox Day has his head on straight? Because he doesn't take himself that seriously. This? From his own blog:

Some egomaniac. Worst. Cult. Leader. EVAH!

When the SJWs get off their asses and deplatform you from Kickstarter and Indiegogo, convince Diamond to shut you out, and nail your Paypal account, your payment processor, and cancel your cards I know damn well that you're not going to have the acumen or the fortitude to make like Identity Europa and figure out to reorganize the old-school way with Cashier's Checks and newsletters. You don't want to put in the hard work that Vox Day has to fork and replace the very industry you claim is so in trouble; you just want to rule the decaying world instead.

Meanwhile Vox Day comes in like Kenshiro and says Omae wa mo shinderu, and your heads predictably explode. Fuck this; you're as useless as the cucks in gaming and SF who aren't willing to accept the reality of a dying model that cannot--and should not--be saved. I won't lift a finger when the horde comes for you; you have proven that you're not worth it.

Never bet against either the Razor or the Dark Lord. You always lose. You just don't know it until it's too late.

  1. Bradford,

Yeah. I was deeply stunned at the histrong candidate hissy fit. Obviously Ethan still hasn't lost enough skin in the game to realize what the freaks have done to him.
I do hope that whatever legitimate differences there are they put them aside and work for a common cause.

I couldn't care less if they never exchange birthday cards, I want compelling content that persuades me to spend my beer money.
Lesson to take to heart: you don't have to like someone to work to work for a common clause. Churchill and de Gaulle couldn'the tandis each other but the worked in concert to free Europe

  2. And it gets worse for Ethan Van Sciver: http://voxday.blogspot.com/2018/09/the-secret-of-comicartistpro.html

  3. I may not agree with Vox on absolutely everything, but he gets things done, and, like you said, he knows how to win.

If I was going to pick a fight with someone, the last person I'd want to be up against is Vox Day. The guy knows his what he's doing. After following his blog for 3-4 years, I've learned that Vox Day never does anything without a long-term strategy. He's in it for the long haul.

If you're going to bet on anyone, put your money down for Vox Day.

    1. Agreed. He understands the stakes and is willing to put skin in the game. The Comic gaters are too hesitant because they still don't accept just how much the fanatics hate. The Comic gaters still live in a dream world to their detriment.

    1. Holy cow! We’ve all been battling the converged comics industry for over a year now? It feels like this ride just started yesterday.

And it’s been a lot of fun!
