What he's bullshitting about is that he's playing the Access Media Game.

What is this? A simple form of Patronage that everyone and their uncle has seen before so often that it no longer registers unless pointed out to them.

Let me make explicit what the Quid Pro Quo here is: the Cheap Whore Client gets gifted privledged access to new product (including free copies to keep) in return for favorable media exposure such as reviews and similar (not so) organic media attention.

This is why bodies like the U.S. Federal Trade Commission have regulations about disclosures. People getting provided free stuff can't be trusted to not lie in favor of who provided it.

That, you cheap whore, is what you agreed to. No amount of reassurances from Corporate mean anything; if you don't give them the attention that they paid for, they cut you off and redirect all that swag to someone that gets the deal and fulfills their end of it without question.

Your fellow whores get this. Your fellow travelers in the mainstream media are explicitly told this during their university days taking Journalism courses. You are a pitchman, not an independent operator. Either your deliver eyeballs and revenue to the corpos that bought you or you get cut off; that's how these deals work, as Games Journalism and Entertainment Journalism found out the hard way.

So don't you dare tell me that you are not a paid shill. You took the ticket; you will now dance to their tune and deliver results or get your strings cut and tossed into the trash- only then you don't have your reputation or integrity to fall back upon, so you are worse off than before you sold out.

This is why you never sell out.

The only thing more insulting than selling out is lying about it.
