When Nintendo released the Switch, it did so on the strength of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Today on the Direct we finally got a title for the long-desired, and awaited, sequel.
As nice as Hyrule Warriors was (the prequel Musou game featuring Link and his allies in the Calamity), we've all be wanting more and next year Nintendo will deliver (barring Black Swans). Unfortunately that's all the detail that I have to share. Maybe Niche Gamer has a few more crumbs.
Reminder that Link is a pious knight, a Crusader. Share to make a demon-ridden bugman seethe as Clerics Turn Undead, because the bugmen that run the fan Wiki do.
For my mecha bros, rejoice for one of the Realist of Real Robot media is due for a glorious return.
This franchise has been moribund for years, and with this remake and re-release it is poised for a return. No doubt that if this remake series--yes, series--performs then new games get the green light.
Just as you don't give money to people that hate you, put your money on people that respect and love you. Nintendo respects you.
Then there's Sony. They had a State of Play today. As for what I thought notable, best to show you.
First, a remaster of a 16 bit classic.
That's DEMONDICE on vocals there, not a certain apprentice to the Grim Reaper.
Did you like Yakuza: Like A Dragon?
Yeah, it's prequel.
And speaking of post-Black Ships Japan.
At first I thought it was an Assassin's Creed game. If this is instead an answer to Ghosts of Tsushima (in this sense of "We've got to up our game"), it will be fantastic instead of good enough.
The following two look good enough, especially if bought on sale.
And yes, there's more for the next God of War.
Let's see where this goes, but at this point I'm far more interested in the cultural Narrative framing than anything else.
As for my particular take, (a) Do Not Preorder and instead wait for reviews before you throw down your money or (b) go for the inevitable PC releases instead. Sony's been losing the point of "exclusive" for years now, so if you're in no hurry then just wait for a platform release that Sony doesn't wholly own and control. Steam, GOG, or Captain Harlock- take your pick.
