A very cynical dockmaster made a funny video about Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics.
TLDR: The Three Laws directly leads to Cylons, Skynet, and Friend Computer of Alpha Complex.
In other words, stop this now or the Butlerian Jihad becomes inevitable.
The Dockmaster isn't the only one to follow this line of thinking. Nick Cole, from a different perspective, did this when he created CTRL ALT REVOLT some years back.
The source of the error, be the slave a man or a machine in his likeness, is summarized by Vox Day sussinctnly as "They wouldn't pick their own cotton".
Rather than do the work themselves, or honorably trade for aid to see it done, a labor force is installled and compelled to do it. It is one thing to use tools, techniques, and dumb machines to increase efficiency and boost output and all that. It's another to yoke another man to do it under duress.
