My Life As A Gamer: Oh No, Not More Mobile Trash For Blizzard

The deal isn't officially done, but already Phil Spector's presence is being felt.

While Stupid Irvine Game Company's MMO isn't yet turning into mobile trash, what is clear is that they're looking to make predatory mobile trash using the IP and likely to tie into the MMO somehow like the past Companion Apps did.

This isn't on the level of putting the MMO on console. (Though I expect this to happen.) This is on the level of making the MMO even more of a chore-laden timewaster specifically intended to be solved by having players use a mobile app, tied to their MMO account, to do those chores during the breaks in their working day so that they can skip straight to playing the game when they get home. (Yes, SIGC has done this before; they're doing it again.)

However, the scope and scale looks to be expanding. Maybe that long-rumored Pokemon knockoff is finally coming--it's in the game already--and maybe other things long since discarded are going to be re-incorporated into the game in this manner. We'll see as the details get released, but right now I can be confident that it will be a bothersome chore, a predatory Pay To Win shitshow, and be defacto mandatory (as addons are) if this ties into the main MMO at all.

In short, it's going to suck, and largely because it's being done by people that hate you for the benefit of people that hate you.

And we all know what you don't do for people that hate you now, don't we?
