On this day, 80 years ago, Imperial Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and gave the United States cause to join World War 2 as an active belligerant against the Axis Powers.
Last year, Time Ghost did a massive special event that went over the attack minute-by-minute. That became collected into a playlist, embedded below.
This is one of the best piece of indie media to come forth in recent years. Time Ghost is not a massive studio. It's an independent collective that's mostly supported by popular donations, with some corporate collaborations here and there (i.e. World of Warships for this one).
It took years to get all the info, plot out the timelines, write the scripts, get the new animations rendered, shoot the host segments, and record the voiceovers. That's not cheap, and therefore it was once the domain of very well-off corporations. That a group like Time Ghost did a professional-grade work on such a low budget speaks volumes about how the game has changed in favor of the small guys out there.
Which means that their future D-Day special, done in a similar manner, will be just as impressive. Throw the gang a dollar if you can spare it; you're getting far more back than what you put in.
Rest in peace, Great-Uncle Kenneth. Thanks to historians like Indy and his collaborators, you and your shipmates on Oklahoma won't be forgotten.
