While the mass deplatforming is worrisome for purposes of political stability, something that it being missed is that this will not stop with political targets. There is now no reason to stop freezing out competitors to Big Corporate Pop Cult offerings.
Why not lean on Steam to force Valve to kill indie access to the PC market, and do worse to GOG? It doesn't matter if the indies are apolitical or even fellow travelers; they're competitors, and in the totalitarian heresy Competition Is A Sin. The same applies to non-AAA console offerings, and we're already seeing this being done by Sony; Microsoft will do the same sooner than later, and we already know that Nintendo's American branch has the same problem festering within it- and so far, only Nintendo of Japan is successfully resisting.
We already know that tabletop gaming has a massive poz problem, and competition in certain niches is already neutered to the point of practical elimination. Tabletop RPGs are utterly dominated by whatever Wizards of the Coast calls "D&D", with across-the-street "competitor" Paizo being little more than a lint trap for those D&D doesn't capture, and all others being also-rans of varying (ir)relevance.
Publishing of fiction is going to start having a bad time. Not only is OldPub increasingly anti-competitive in their attempt to enforce The Narrative, but we'll start seeing far more active censorship by Amazon, Kobo, et. al. as they're already pozzed and doing nothing to cleanse themselves of the SJW infection in their organization. It will stop being rogue employees sooner than later.
The pattern will follow the political example. The first targets will be those furtherest from Normieville to normalize the practice. Then they will move closer and closer to Normieville, until the only things allowed to be sold will be those that push the Narrative in service to the Death Cult.
No, it will not matter if it actively against the Death Cult or not.
No, it will not matter if it supports the Death Cult.
What matters is establishing total control over the Narrative, something that requries monopoly control at scale in both vertical and horizontal directions. This means not only freezing out everything not from Big Corporate, but ensuring that Big Corporate is Big Cultist.
No, you won't be able to access foreign alternatives soon enough. That total control includes freezing out what they can't directly control or destroy, such as Russian payment processors or banks in Japan. You won't be able to shop anywhere but Big Corporate stores. You won't be able to dine anywhere but Big Corporate restaurants or fast food chains. You won't be able to publish anywhere but Big Corporate outlets. You won't be able to buy anything but Big Corporate entertainment. All competition will be destroyed if they get their way and Normieville gets destroyed.
None of this will be possible tomorrow unless you fight for it today.
We're not talking about Trump here. We're talking about you, with your ambitions to build your own wealth and pass it on generationally or your desire to read that quirkly independent historical fiction novel set during the Punic Wars, or your wish to read an Ottoman memoir on the 17th Century Siege of Vienna, or your wish to learn how to build and maintain a house that doesn't need so much climate control technology to be viable (h/t Wrath of Gnon).
In other words, this threatens Normieville, but because it's not smearing itself in your face and humiliating you for it you're not noticing and thus not taking the threat seriously when you're best able to stop it.
This is your warning. They won't stop with going after Trump. They want it all, they want it now, and that meant taking out YOU.
