The Culture: Purge The Heretic, The Mutant, The Traitor

Time to get wise, and harden up.

In the little and the large, how you are in the small is how it goes over all.

Good Order is not just for the macro issues.

The Culture: Throwing Down Idols Is Not Consigned To History

Over the week, we had this exchange on Twitter.

Mythic's right. That's why I call it a Cargo Cult.

Cult. That's religious. They worship idols and enforce dogmas and conduct initiations (indoctrinations).

The Bros came in as a righteous crusade, threw down those idols, and tread all over them with their sandalled feat.

Because idol worship is not a good thing, be it in the most literal form or in the more abstracted form of the Pop Cult- which is what "folk D&D" is, a Pop Cult of idol worship.

Jeffro correctly nails down the issue being one of "being inititiated" instead of Reading The Manual like you do with everything else. This is how you get such indefensible Just So dogmas about Tabletop; they are all mutations of an original error, and the freakouts against the Bros are really freakouts against the destruction of their idols.

These are the same people who wonder why most prospects bounce off their non-games when compared against Vidya or Board/Cardgame counterparts and rightly dismiss their cult as a waste of time for losers.

The Bros fix the hobby by returning it to being something that is actually (a) a unique gameplay experience that competing media can't do better and (b) returns it back to being a pro-social social club based hobby pursuit where you can participate no matter where you go because there's local hobbyists playing exactly the same game, exactly the same way as you do back home.

The Cargo Cult wants to keep it to siloed basement cult cells playing Calvinball because that's how cults maintain indoctrination over time; low-key cult psychological abuse is still cult psychological abuse, as we see regularly now with all that very same thing being exposed in the public schools across the West (and, increasingly, going to creep into Japan and South Korea too; the signs are there).

If you're instead in a decentralized, distributed society where the authority is in a manual and not in a man--and reading/comprehending the manual is not only allowed, but required--that can't happen. If you know that rolling a man at the local Clubhoue is the same as it is in Tokyo or Dubai, or the rules for XP and Training, etc. then you know that you're not running afoul of Frustrated Novelists, Theater Kids, or similar resentful spergs (all of whom should be remedially instructed via cranial pugilation therapy into proper behavior).

The restoration of the Real Game and the Real Hobby to its pro-social origins, severing the diseased growths, and carrying on anew from there is inevitable. The cultism deserves to be destroyed.

The Culture: Arch Points Out The Obvious

Arch embraces the inevitable.

This is him not only waking up and choosing violence, but deciding that Exterminatus is not the extreme option.

He has such a firm grasp on the psychology of Resentment that Chaos personifies that he is now ready to see the real-life counterpart.

That's right, this not something harmless. The end result of this in real world terms is the destruction of Civilization and the extinction of Designated Enemies.

You want to know the Death Cult and the Mammon Mob have to control the narrative down to the level of hobbyist pursuits? Because even the smallest of things can hold the power to expose them and thus give both form and name to an otherwise invisible enemy; if you can name it and shape it, you can kill it.

This is what those skilled in Sophistry know too well; that's why they play wordgame and deal in gaslighting as easy as breathing- and it's why they weaponize lore, history, and precendent--three forms of word-based foundation-building--in their attacks. ("It's just fiction", "It's just Your Truth", "It's just Oppressive Construcs" respectively, and when they seize power they waste no time changing it to suit, as Virginia recently showed again.)

GW didn't intend it, but via stealing Chaos from Moorcock to label their Cosmic Enemy they would provide a model for the very trans-national crime syndicate and death cult that threatens the world and all within it. The enemy noticed, and they cannot forgive or ignore this; by their reaction, you know that Arch's presentation is correct. This is textbook "Protest Too Much" revelation.

The Culture: Death Cultists Have No Theory Of Mind

The Basic Expert reminds people that The Past Is A Foreign Country.

When The Pundit decrys Wizards of the Coast for turning The Only Game That Matters into Current Year Seattle In RenFaire Costumes, this lack of comprehesion of how the past worked is what he was talking about--and is talking about still--because it betrays that Death Cultists have no Theory Of Mind for anyone outside their cult- their own religion.

They cannot comprehend anything but themselves.

It's no surprise that TBE's getting stick about this in the Comments, proving this point for him. We call folks like this NPCs for a reason.

The Culture: We Need More Priest Classes

The following video came across my feed and hit something I've been talking about for years.

Set aside the conclusion. Focus on Tabletop applicability, both in terms of worldbuilding and in rules/content design. We, like the video presenter, shall take the perspective of an engineer here.

Remember Runequest? What's its big deal? That religion, in its full complexity, is made playable in a manner that players can comprehend in a manner analogus to the way that non-Christian religion actually works. Call of Cthulhu does something similar with how it presents Lovecraft's nihilistic cosmos via its rules.

This video explains how and why the human practice of religion works as it does, and it is far more applicable to non-Christian practice (something that is how things are in most Fantastic Adventure gaming play, at least in theory) than to Christianity due to specific elements of Christianity that make it the outlier in religions.

It also, without even addressing the hobby, shows why the Cleric (a) is not a generic priest and (b) why implicit cosmologies hard-coded into a game limit the scope of practical religion capable of being modelled in a game. There's a reason for why you can't have a proper representation of Christianity in Legend of the Five Rings/Legend of the Burning Sands: the rules regarding how the supernatural and sacred work get shattered by implementing Christianity into its setting.

The obvious conclusion is that this justifies other priest classes.

The obvious follow-on is that games will get the priest classes that the rules support via their mechanics and procedures.

The catch is that people will do this poorly and get shit results that don't deliver on the expectations; to do that you have to know the game you're designing for, which means you need to read the fucking manuals and then draw out the second and third-order effects of their rules and procedures. With that mastery in hand, your design will leverage those structural elements and emergent effects to fulfill the expectations that users will have.

There's a reason that I've made a draft adaptation of Palladium's Warlock O.C.C. to AD&D1e; it is to illustrate this very thing, because AD&D1e can support the concept, but those who don't read and study the game's manuals will fail to achieve the desired result. Shaman adaptations are likewise not just a variant Cleric.

The same applies to other games. Your priests need to reflect the mythos and cosmology that comprises their religious practices, and that needs to be coded into the rules so it is part of the experience of play.

The Culture: Why Your Magic System Is Crap

Dragon Award winning author Brian Niemeier posted this article on Magic and Sacramentality the other day, wherein he defined both terms.

Here’s a handy formula to help you distinguish between the two:

  • Magic = using preternatural means for natural ends
  • Sacraments = using natural means for supernatural ends.

For a couple of examples under this model, consulting a fortune teller to find your car keys is magic. Having water poured over you to obtain remission of all your sins and new birth in Christ is a sacrament.

Yes, he goes on from there; read the article for more on the matter.

For our purposes in game design what this means is that "magic" is directly tied to cosmology; what is possible within a given practice of magic is defined by what supernatural presence the magic-user draws upon to achieve those natural ends.

You want to know why I object to the Cleric as a generic priest class? This is why; what a specific religion believes, and why it believes as it does (and therefore how and why it practices its religion as it does) is defined by the mythology that explains it. You don't get Fireball tossing tome-hunting obsessives from Van Hellsing In Plate, but you can from the Temple Cult of Molech.

(Yes, this means that the core premise of White Wolf's Mage: The Ascension is sound; it's everything else that turns it into a complete dumpster fire.)

This means that every form of magic-use needs distinct rules and procedures. Runequest had the right idea, and it is sad that this did not catch on in wider use in the hobby. It also means that games with multiple forms of magic use had better be designed with interaction in mind, that the rules of the game are the reality of the world (as we are well aware after 50 years that players certainly see it that way), and thus the cosmology behind any given practice of magic has to be mechanically reinforced or it will not be taken seriously.

This also means that some games present magic systems that players will not take into the typical adventuring party, but instead are only viable in strategic-level play due to what their magic does and how it works, and without the full array of play that the Real Game possesses these magic systems and their practioners cease to be obviously useful to the typical player. (e.g. you want an Alchemist in your strategic panapoly; you don't want one in your dungeon delving or commando raid team)

This explains why you can't have a generic fantasy game; the very rules you have for magic tell you what is and is not true about how things work. This also means that (A)D&D is not a generic fantasy game, and why every edition plays and feels different- they are different.

N.B.: The Holidays page is updated; I have added a new Wish List on Amazon specifically for Appendix N literature.

The Culture: When You Made The Jester Mad, YOU FUCKED UP!

We're interrupting the usual gaming talk for this.

When the jester of the Internet got mad about Charlie Kirk, you had better listen.

This is a clip from his livestream last weekend. You can find the whole thing here; his shop is, as of this post, still open- buy yourself a hat and help fund his medical bills.

Jim doesn't know how long he has. Appreciate him while you can.

The Culture: Do Not Believe Their Lies For Commies Are Demons

The Vidya and Tabletop (and other media) Death Cultists are going to start bullshiting when they sense that they're in trouble. Remember:

The same applies to other Commie-involved concerned.

They are Commies. They lie. They are the Frieren meme.

"Nazi" and "Fascist" are just weaponized words. Appeals to morality are just weaponized attacks using our decency against us. Yet, as the British discovered over the last weekend, they are not the majority that they pretend to be and when that becomes apparent to them they freak out and start reverting to type: instant appeals to hard power, if they control State organs, and outright criminality when they don't.

They didn't kill Kirk from a position of strength. They killed him as a stopgap move due to weakness; the reactions--including Trump agreeing to make Antifa a designated terrorist organization, something that has far-reaching consequences--are the revelation of this fact.

And Sam Hyde made it plain: either we get them now, or we're dead.

We cannot co-exist. They have declared it so; there is no turning back now. There is only war. If our State power and majority status is not enough, then we'll be forced to do it ourselves the hard way. It won't be the first time.

Fortunately, the designation of Antifa as a terrorist organization is exactly that war mobilization.

The Culture: Of Course They're Making A Hit List (In Tabletop)

The Pundit reports that, again, Reddit Is Reddit.

They are making a list. They want to punish enemies and reward friends, with an emphasis on the former.

They are not doing a good job of it, but man the insanity is there on display; Pundit and Macris are already banned because past smears led to being brigaded (and rightly so) hence the relutance to mention them, but others are being sorted and by the time you see this they may have bothered to actually write who goes where.

These people are making the argument for the Clubhouse better than I have so far. The Clubhouse solves this problem.

The Culture: It's Not Just The Folks On The Inside

Reddit being Reddit, you can count on there being people who celebrated Charlie Kirk's death.

From this thread:

Shane Hensley (owner of Pinnacle and one of the creators of Savage Worlds) had a pretty bad take that's, at posting, still up on his Facebook page for anyone to see. Being my most charitable, it's disturbingly ignorant at best. I don't believe he's inherently bad, just completely misinformed, and just a really old terminally "both sides" neo-liberal.

I'll keep playing SWADE and Deadlands. (As an indigenous person, I acknowledge that they're pretty tone-deaf, but well-meaning.) I don't think I'll personally be buying anymore products in the future, as-is. I doubt I'd begrudge anyone who continues to buy PE content, but I also won't go out of my way to play at their tables. But that's just me.

The statement:

Motherfucker, THAT IS MILQUETOAST AT BEST! That is basic civility, The Bare Fucking Minimum, of "Hey, don't kill people for their opinions- especially if they are open to debate about them" and they react like he did a heresy.

You know why? Because, for the Death Cult, that IS heresy.

There is no reasoning with fanatical Death Culists. Go to Human Resources AND file OSHA complaints as soon as you find them in your workplaces; skip HR if it's Management.

OSHA complaint stuff here. Make them feel pain; it's the only way they learn.

UPDATE! The Cuck Caved!

The Culture: No Mercy For The Death Party

Jon Del Arroz talks about the Death Cultists celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Vidya.

This is not confined to Vidya, as that splash page reveals; while the troon cow at DC got the axe over this, others have not yet felt pain for their disgusting actions.

If you think this is not being done in Tabletop, you are naive; Tabletop is where most of this poz came from in entertainment because all that shit got really bad at RPG Net over 15 years ago and Tabletop people routinely connect into Vidya, Novels, Comics, and Film/TV.

I want names. I want receipts. I will post them here, for ease of reference, and I will name and shame until they take the blame and get consigned to the flame. This is not arguing over elfgames; this is not tolerating dyscivic, dysgenic, degenerate behavior any longer by enforcing the same rules upon them that they do upon us- and it is a hell of a lot easier to wreck a Tabletop organization or actor than it is any other unless you're Wizards of the Coast.

All such people are hereby banned from the Clubhouse, banned from all my platforms, and certainly banned from all of my properties worldwide- yes, this is a forward-going thing. You have shown your (lack of) quality, and I want nothing to do with you ever again. All I want to see is you in a hole like the Watchers that rebelled against God crying about how unfair it is that you didn't get to wreck everything by your actions.

Because the alternative is that you face the wall. We cannot co-exist.

The Culture: And This Is Why The Inquisition Is Justified

Yesterday, Arch followed up on his previous post.

He didn't mince words. This is the end result of Gramasci's Mark Through The Institutions and its generations of multi-level Narrative Warfare, with the explicit intent to invert all morality in order to make possible their seizure of power and extinction of enemies.

Yes, extinction. Unlike others in Modernity, these folks understand that if your people are the only people then your paradigm--and thus power--is the only one. Everyone thinks the same way, so they act the same way, because you can't act on thoughts you don't have.

They are fanatics. They always have been. They always will be. They insist upon themselves, and they react so strongly to depictions of demons and bugs (and other monsters of a similar sort) because those fictions expose their true form to the audience- and they, moreso than anyone else, comprehend the power of entertainment media to shape thought and opinion.

They hate 40K because they see what happens when people think at all about how the Imperium is correct to be what it is. They seized Trench Crusade because it holds the same truth despite all that they have done to confuse it. They hate DOOM and Frieren because both show that there is only guaranteed way to solve the problem they present. They deliberately insist upon BCE/CE because they hate God (which is what changing the label, but not the basis for it, signifies) and wish to confuse people's ability to know why that distinction exists.

They know what they intend to do--are doing, slowly--to us: extinction and replacement. They therefore fear that this will be done to them as a justified defensive measure, like the Crusades were, so they are desperate finish the job. Except that they can't, not in time.

Arch, in the main, is right: they did overextend as a direct result of fanaticism. However, that same fanaticism is what allows them to regroup every time because what is required to permanently solve the problem is never done- and they tell you EVERY SINGLE TIME what it takes, yet no shot-caller believes them and that results in today's victory becoming tomorrow's genocide.

Why do they hate 40K? Because 40K acknowledges what must be done. Why seize Trench Crusade? Because it acknowledges what must be done. Same with DOOM and Frieren- and once that is acknowledged by a critical mass of people with agency, it is over for them AND THEY KNOW IT. That is also why there's been 100+ years of propaganda against it, an entire global regime paradigm making it forbidden, and more: because it's been done before, successfully, in the Old Testament, multiple times.

There is no co-existence with these people; they said so- believe them. There is only war. Your choices are extinction or conquest. I choose conquest. The Fourth Turning is here.

The Culture: They Are Telling You Who They Serve- BELIEVE THEM!

I just want to give Arch a big ol' hug. He's been stressing it of late.

It's one thing to accept that Death Cultists are mentally ill weirdos that hate you. It's harder to accept that they are politically organized, networked, and extensively hooked up to patronage networks. Arch is at the second acceptance.

But you can see that he's being forced to accept that the final one is real: they are Not Entirely Of Their Own Mind- i.e. demonically oppressed or possessed.

And their networks are riling them up, have been for a while, and as the usual early measures in the Color Revolution Playbook fizzle to no effect the violence will ramp up- and they will target whomever they can reach once it becomes clear that they can't get to whom they really want. That means YOU. It will begin with freezing out of organizations that they control, however small; it will escalate to Fucking With The Money (employment, business, banking) before moving on to rioting and targeted hits of figures that are not considered public figures but (by their metrics) are political actors (i.e. YOU)- in particular in places where the courts are on their side.

Yes, including in Europe (where we already see it happening). Yes, including in Australia and New Zealand. Yes, even in places you may not think are danger zones.

It's getting warm in North America and Europe. Expect this to jump off by Summer because they hate the God-Emperor of Mankind, and by extention YOU.

The Culture: Consider That They Are Not Entirely Of Their Own Mind

You've seen this in Tabletop too.

And in case you missed why Frieren has Death Cultists defending the demons (like they do the bugs), watch this clip (I'd embed it but YT disabled that).

She knows what they are and she slaughters them without mercy. No chill whatsoever, like you do when dealing with such dangerous predators.

Why do Death Cultists simp for the bugs? For the demons? For the predators? They want to die, and they want you to die with them. Like the Eternals in Zardos, craving death because they reached their end-point in Nihilism, but for all of us.

That sounds a lot like demonic influence to me, especially once you know where demons come from (spirits of slain Nephilim). These people need Jesus, and I don't mean that purely in a Rhetorical sense.

Once you see it, you won't unsee it. Being paid to riot, and other such mundame patronage, only explains so much.

And it explains why they hate Doom, 40K, and so much more- up to and including nonsensical willful misreads of IPs they control.

And remember, folks, that they come at you for a reason: they see God in you, and that is why they act as if the only thing they fear is you.

The Culture: Remember That Tabletop Got This Bad Because Of Enemy Inside The Gates

This weekend we got a reminder that Tabletop's poz problem came from within:

Of course he had an excuse, which (in typical Death Cult fashion) is pure projection.

By now it's not hard to translate that Death Cult cant: "This is Our Thing, not Your Thing. Get out before we destroy you."

Cultists like him are rotten in the commercial end of Tabletop. They run Wizards of the Coast. They run all of the adjacent operations, such as Paizo (and everyone else out of Seattle), they dominate bottom-feeders like you see on Roll For Combat or cringy wankers like J. Scott Garipay, and they are the majority of the D&DTube loser Tourists.

These people hate you. Don't give them money. Captain Harlock is your friend.

The Culture: "Media Literacy" Always Means "It Means What The Death Cult Says It Means"

Commies. Not even once.

Arch put in a heroic effort to refute this Death Cult brain rot.

But no, this Muh City Planning/Muh Cars Bad retard had to stick his nose into 40K and give the most rotted Death Cult Tourist take- complete with "We must flood into this hobby and push out the Chuds!"

Remember that video I linked yesterday? Here it is again.

Call it synchronicity if you like. That doesn't change the fact that how Genestealers and their cults work to destroy what they infest is so close to how our present Gnostic Death Cult works that you can use it as a guide to purging the Cult with fire and win.

What does a fanatical cult do when it seeks to seize power? Turn language into a weapon. In other words, relentless gaslighting of enemies while signalling to allies. That's what these sort of people do when they cut videos about Muh Media Literacy, or Muh Fascisms, or Muh (Far/Alt) Right; it's all signalling, and in those signals those low in status get their orders--hence the NPC Memes--while those high in status issue their orders.

There is no Dialectical content in their language. It's all Rhetoric. Don't be fooled; engaging on Dialectic grounds is how you lose. You engage on Rhetorical grounds or you lose every single time. The objective is to make them feel pain, and emotionally that means fear and dread. If they do not fear or dread you, you lose every single time. Adam's response shows this in action.

To permanently deal with them, that pain--including fear and dread--needs to be mortal and insurmountable; they have to believe that you are so intracable that they are better off going elsewhere than dealing with you. If you are able to demonstrate this capacity, do so and leave the voluntold around to display this to others. They are emotional; fear is your ally, and maining your capacity to be fearful is your discipline.

They side with the Bugs, the Tyranids, Chaos, and the Demons for a reason. They are telling you what they are- BELIEVE THEM! Purge them and shut the gates.

The Culture: A Reminder of Why We Have Narrative Warfare In The Hobby

Friend of the Retreat Jon Mollison delivers the 101 on why all of this matters.

The Social Justice Warriors are members of a Death Cult- the Death Cult.

This is a religion- the religion that stands against God.

Because they are in rebellion against God, they must operate as an insurgency until they seize power at which point they become bloody-handed butchers while humiliating those they conquer until compliance and stealing the minds of the next generation to cement the conquest.

If this reminds you of any one of several "liberal" regimes of the 19th and 20th Century (not just that of a certain Austrian Painter) that is not accidental; they are all the same thing because they all serve the same master, and they are so vicious towards each other because they are all different sects of the same religion.

The way forward is not just to expose and reject; these are necessary, but not sufficient, steps. The way forward is to eliminate the means by which these heretics have seized power and eliminate them; these are the pillars holding up their operations, so if they get knocked out those operations will collapse and their power goes with them- leaving them vulnerable to a thourough and permanent purging.

The follow-up is to have in place replacement practices that are proof against later subversion. We have the blueprint for such practices, and now that we're getting people to see that the Death Cult has no intention of providing what the audience wants those replacements will gain traction.

The Bros are leading the way, because what's wrong with Conventional Play is not just playing the game wrong. It's doing the hobby wrong, and that's because the hobby is part of the culture and we have been doing the culture wrong BY DESIGN all this time. Restoring the culture anywhere, and persisting at it, will lead to restoring the culture everywhere- and from there the politics follows.

Thanks to Jon for connecting the Big to the Small, because this is a fractal affair.

The Culture: The Perfect Meme That Captured The Poz Paradigm

This Tweet captured how the Death Cult (aka the SJWs) see the world in a meme.

If you need just the image, here you go.

You may need to open the image in a new Tab and zoom in; my aging eyes did.

Compare the top to the bottom. The top uses a well-known and historically-validated (as in "This shit really happened, repeatedly, across the planet, over recorded history and even purported pre-history"), while the bottom is flat-out insanity.

This is not merely a belief in Utopia. This is a belief that Utopia IS THE DEFAULT STATE OF EXISTENCE! They presume, a priori, that there is super-abundance of all material resources and that there is no differences between the sexes or between races (or within them, i.e. the nations within the races) despite all evidence proving so.

Therefore they have no explanation for unequal outcomes because they presume equal inputs without evidence, and as a consequence they presume that unequal outcomes are the result of predatory actions by hostile actors acting irrationally or due to being in thrall to same.

Their fantasy is not Gay Space Communism. Their fantasy is being infants in a crib where all are equal and are entitled to comfort, support, shelter, and sustainance without any demands upon them to do so and any disruption of this state is Evil and anything done to restore this state is Good- up to and including the genocide of everyone that dares get in the way of this fantasy. Furthermore, this is fundamentally a Feminine Fantasy, so this is also the Longhouse Fantasy.

It is a fantasy based on a fantasy, and deep down they know it and resent it which is why (a) they know they can't compete again the real fantasy that's been powerful and effective since it was mythology and (b) they have to resort to censorship at all levels to win against competition that they cannot otherwise defeat- if They Are The Only Option, then they win by default (until reality pops their delusional fantasy yet again).

Which brings me to what seemed to be serendiptous developments.

This past week we saw some Shitlib outlet get mad that Tucker Carlson had on a historian that dared to question the Great Holy Dogma of the Post-WW2 Cult that gives Globohomo its purloined moral authority.

"Call them the Barbarian Right: The master subject of this worldview is the Nietzschean barbarian or “aristocrat of the spirit” who overthrows the egalitarian—and essentially feminine—structures that have long shackled him, restraining his yearning for adventure and excellence. Nazi apologia is par for the course."

Reactions included some Dissident Right people saying, in jest, that they should lean into this for its meme potential as "The Barbarian Right". I concur, and Passage Publishing wasted no time promoting their omnibus of Robert E. Howard's works. (Buy it if you don't have this in some form already, as I do.)

Because what does the Barbarian do in Conan's Hyborean Age? Destroy the delusions of the decadent unreality of Longhoused Civilizations. In so doing Howard took what is known historical cyclical processes and puts them into a fantastic adventure fiction setting where the truth of that reality can be comprehended without dealing with the baggage of historical contexts.

So do the same to these Death Cultist decadents. Tread their Bejeweled thrones under your sandalled feet. Mercy for these fanatics is for cucks.

The Culture: One Hand Follows The Incentives, And The Other Exploits The Results

Others have reported on the SOBS Story about Brink's booting.

Which means that others are catching on, as I said last week when this first broke.

What I want to remind you all about is that Brink's replacement will only make things worse. The woman that replaces him is by no means Le Based Gamer Girl. She can't even be a Jobber in the Women's Division.

She's is, at best, a Mammon Mob Mol who is zealously devoted to Line Going Up. More likely is that she is a Death Cultist devoted to the pozzing of the hobby as part of destroying Civilization via poisoning the culture- and yes, the hobby is part of the culture, moreso than many would ever admit. Which means all the things I talked about before on what SOBS plans to do with the Brand and the business remains in place. Yes, both the Mammon Mob and Molech Maniac sides of it.

That is not changed. They want to end physical products. They want to end player groups. They want to atomize you, isolate you, mindfuck you into a Brand Cult, and (for the Molech Maniacs serving the Death Cult) use that despair to make you vulnerable to taking the poz and becoming one of them.

That is what turning this into a Mobile Trash Pay-To-Win app with a Walled Garden, FOMO everywhere you turn, and Brand tie-ins to keep you in the grip of the Brand Cult will do to you. The Mobsters are following commercial incentives in trying to atomize and isolate you. The Maniacs are assisting the Mobsters because atomized and isolated people are easy to demoralize and break psychologically- and broken people are prime recruits for pozzing into the Death Cult.

The incentive for other publishers to follow SOBS' lead if they can will only increase with time, faster for those already corporatized and publically-listed, but even smaller commercial operations will be compelled to do so because all of the commercial incentives reward it. That's why, as much as I may like some of the folks out there, I say that there is no commercial future in Tabletop. There is only a slow, then sudden, death in commercial terms.

There is a place for self-funding hobbyist operations, but those will become part of Clubhouse organizations over that same time because the revival of the Clubhouse is where the future of the hobby is. The Return of the Amateur is long overdue, but that is where things must go for there to be fantastic adventure gaming on the tabletop in another 50 years as there will be no commercial form well before that point.

Follow the money and be broken and damned. Follow the hobby and be joyful in obscurity. Or quit. That's your fork in the road. Choose. Now.

The Culture: By The Way, WOTC Hates You And Can't Stop Signaling So

Speaking of where Sorcerers By The Sea are signalling about where Current Edition is going, let's recall SOBS doing so by denigrating the past and the creators.

I've had my rant at the Boomers like Rob complaining about this earlier, so I won't repeat it here.

Instead, I want to point your attention to the fact that this book exists as a feature-length hit piece on Gary Gygax, Dave Arnese, and the roots of the hobby- at the real game that the Cargo Cult of Conventional Play had no problems burying for decades long before the Death Cultists used Social Justice to stage a coup over the last 20 years and seize control over this game and the company that published it.

They are True Believers in their heretical Death Cult religion. You cannot reason with them. You can only warn others, not yet taken in, away from them and get them to do as you ought to be doing: not giving money to people that hate you.
