The Culture: The Magic Comes From Unexpected Interactions And Their Consequences

Never let it be said that your hobby has no greater value to society, not after World of Warcraft has generated more than one research project due to fuckery done by players.

Oh, that PVP incident? That video is still up.

To this day, no regrets for ganking those folks.

This, like it or not, are the sort of moments that hobbyists remember. Not the popping of Loot Pinata #1138 and the collection of Best In Slot Item (For This Season).

The Real Game in Tabletop is likewise made up of such moments. The #BROSR has already had several of them, some of which I've participated in (Too Cute To Die!), and the consequences of these events are still playing out up to several years later.

This, again, is why Tabletop is not a Narrative medium. You can't storywank your way to making the magic happen, and you never have.
