• Legend of the Galactic Heroes by Yoshiki Tanaka, the light novel series. All ten volumes are now available in English. (Amazon: Kindle, Paperback, Audio) The Blu-Rays for The New Thesis are also still available, but the original series is not.
• The Heroic Legend of Arslan also by Tanaka is now past 20 volumes in English. (Amazon: Kindle and Paperback) There are a few anime adaptations out there.
• Yukikaze by Chohei Kambayashi and its sequels. Yes, there's a manga and an anime adaptation and (as one should expect) the latter has some of the best dogfights put to film.
• The Midas Star by Luigi Cozzi & Steven Ross (Amazon, co-written by the man behind Starcrash and this is a psuedo-sequel to it)
