Narrative Warfare: It's a Symbolic Display of Conquest

Our friends at World Class Bullshitters put out a lunchtime video on Captain Marvel.

Jeff's got it right. This is a mediocre film being hyped as the Second Coming, and all the bad Public Relations surrounding this film is what's going to sink it. I fully expect the same thing that we saw with The Last Jedi to repeat here, and for the same reasons. I went into the bigger reasons for why this is going down yesterday at Empire Must Fall, which you can find here.

Let's get a bit more specific here. Why is the Mouse doing this to the only other film franchise they have that's worth a damn?

For that, let me again point back to a previous Empire post, this about the aforementioned Mouse Wars film:

Anciently, when a conqueror completes a conquest one of the things done do cement control and establish dominance is to change the mythology of the conquered nation. Their heroes get degraded, their deeds defiled, and the conqueror's heroes supercede them in all ways- often with ease. To the generation surviving the conquest, this is insult added to injury, but left unchecked the generations that follow will accept this degenerate mythology as normal- and if the conqueror is wise, they leave an out for the subjects to go all the way and buy into their control. It's the mythological equivalent of killing a man, taking his wife for oneself, and slaughtering his children by her before seeding your own to both remove loose ends and make her accept the conquest as inescapable.

The people running the House of Mouse hate the West and Christianity. It's that simple. They're doing this to signify, by symbolic manipulation, that you're a conquered people due to be displaced and replaced by them and their agents. The comics side of this was the dry run, the shakedown cruise, to see if they could pull it off; as far as the Social Justice Death Cult is concerned, they can and they have, so now they're scaling up to the film versions. Expect all of the outgoing characters to get degraded in fundamental, if subtle, ways before being yanked off the stage for good; expect their replacements to wear the iconic legacies like grotesque skinsuits as they ape the actions without any of the substance that gave the prior actions meaning.

Yes, the people who make those new movies and characters happen will be incompetent. That will be by design; film and TV is a deliberate process by its nature, starting with the producers and other stakeholders. If they want to symbolically degrade before destroying and replacing heroes with their own, putting fuckups in positions to do that and cutting them checks is how you deniably do that thing. This is Basic Bitch Narrative Warfare. You change the stories, warping the past to create the present and put out the future you want to happen, and fuck the other guy. It's straight up 1984, coupled with the insult that many will be compelled to lie so blatantly about what's going on if they want to stay employed.

While the Bullshitters are focused on getting clean entertainment back, and by that they mean "No Propaganda", I know damn well it's worse than that. Fortunately, normies are not yet wholly indoctrinated; they vote with wallets and feet, so I expect a repeat of the aforementioned Mouse Wars film's box office crash and burn next weekend and those to follow. So, I suspect, does the Mouse; Endgame is a month and a half away for a reason, and that has to do with making this film's performance irrelevant in fiscal terms so its narrative impact can be maximized without fear.

This is why you have got to stop being paypigs to these people. Stop giving them your money and your attention. There are alternatives, especially from overseas, such as My Hero Academia if you want superheroes made by people that like you and want to entertain you. Domestic alternatives include Jon del Arroz's Flying Sparks, and there's more to come out of the indie world. Walk away from Omelas, folks, before you find yourself to be the forsaken child powering the utopia.
